The recycling industry has faced many challenges over the last few years, yet consumers are still overwhelmingly (95%) supportive of recycling. According to research commissioned by the Carton Council of North America, 74% think recycling is important and people should make it a priority. This represents a 13% increase from 2015 when 61% said they were supportive of recycling. An additional 21% said people should do what they can to try to recycle.

Results from the most recent wave of StreetWise, the E*TRADE quarterly tracking study of experienced investors show confidence spiked, risk tolerance grew, and engagement increased among Gen Z and Millennial investors during the pandemic. The IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism Index, a leading national poll on consumer confidence, rebounded in June after a dip in May. Last month’s index showed a 3.5% decline, while this month the index is back up 3.7%. June’s reading of 56.4 keeps the index in positive territory for the sixth consecutive month and ties April’s reading for its highest mark since February 2020 (59.8), prior to the pandemic slump. For the IBD/TIPP indexes, a reading above 50.0 signals optimism and below 50.0 indicates pessimism.
