Fidelity Launches Bitcoin Offering for 401(k) Accounts

Fidelity Investments®, one of the largest financial services providers, today announced the launch of Fidelity’s workplace Digital Assets Account (DAA), the industry’s first offering that will enable individuals to have a portion of their retirement savings allocated to bitcoin through the core 401(k) plan investment lineup. The innovative new offering, which MicroStrategy plans to add to its 401(k) plan later this year, will be available broadly to employers mid-year.

Consumer Confidence Lower in April

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index decreased slightly in April, after an increase in March. The Index now stands at 107.3 (1985=100), down from 107.6 in March. The Present Situation Index—based on consumers' assessment of current business and labor market conditions—fell to 152.6 from 153.8 last month. However, the Expectations Index—based on consumers' short-term outlook for income, business, and labor market conditions—ticked up to 77.2 from 76.7.

Findings from the March SCE Labor Market Survey

Among those who were employed four months ago, 92.8 percent were still employed, compared to 91.0 percent in November 2021. This is the highest share seen since July 2016. The increase was due to a decline in transitions out of the labor force from 4.2 percent in November to 1.7 percent in March. This decline was broad-based and was most notable for respondents over age 45 and those with an annual household income of less than $60,000.
